StomaToGo Product Components

Learn about each component and how they work together to provide a hands-free ostomy appliance change solution.

Experience the Confidence and Convenience

StomaToGo is a 3D printed plastic device that is strapped around your torso and positioned below your stoma when you need to change your appliance. It is best used when standing but may work if you have to sit. A waste bag is placed into it and secured so you can drop cleaning materials, your old appliance, and catch any output during the process.

Individual Components

Each component plays a vital role in making StomaToGo effective and easy to use:

⚙️

Base

The Foundation of StomaToGo

At the center of it all for StomaToGo is the Base. The base is a circle with a flat front which goes against the torso. There are belt loops which hold the belt/strap used to hold the base against the torso. The strap is adjustable and provides for a tight fit. The strap is fastened to one end of the base and the other end of the strap goes around the waist and into the other belt loop.

Key Features:

  • Hooks that can be used to hold a new appliance or other items needed during the change
  • Flat rest platforms which hold the Bag Holder
  • Posts and stops for attaching and positioning the Stabilizer Bar
  • Posts used to transport the Shield Holder
  • A large post to hold the Rest Platform and Shield Holder

Bag Holder

Securely Holds Your Waste Bag

The Bag Holder holds the waste bag and fits tightly into the Base. The waste bag (not part of the product) is inserted through the bottom, middle of the Bag Holder and looped over and under the bag holder a few inches. The Bag Holder is then inserted into the center of the Base onto the flat rest areas of the Base. This will hold the waste bag tightly. The Bag Holder also is a circle with a flat front to match the shape of the Base.

Stabilizer Bar

Optional Stability Enhancement

The Stabilizer Bar fits onto the side posts on the Base. When it is moved into its downward position against the torso, it helps stabilize the Base when weight is added to the waste bag and keeps the device from tipping forward.

Usage Note:

It is optional and can be removed from the side posts if using StomaToGo in a sitting position where it might not be needed or fit well.

📋

Rest Platform

Dual-Purpose Component

The Rest Platform has two purposes:

1. Holding Items:

Hold the ostomy barrier for a two-piece ostomy appliance, or any other item used for the change. If a two-piece appliance is used and a seal is used, the seal can be applied to the ostomy barrier on the Rest Platform. The Rest Platform fits onto the large post on the base. It has notches which are used to position the Rest Platform towards or away from the torso by lifting it and turning it.

2. Protection:

Prevent the new ostomy bag from falling into the waste bag and possibly getting soiled. It does this when it is positioned towards the torso after the bag is attached and before StomaToGo is removed from the torso by undoing one side of the strap.

Shield Holder

Optional Privacy and Protection

The Shield Holder is optional and can be placed into the base Post. It has a pointed hook which can be positioned towards the torso. A separate bag can be placed onto the pointed hook by poking it onto the hook and dropping its other end into the waste bag. This bag acts as a shield to provide privacy by providing some cover in the direction you are facing. The shield can also deflect any stoma output if necessary.

Additional Features:

  • Another hook facing away from the torso which can be used to hold any item used during the change
  • Two circles on it which are used to place it onto the top post of the Base for transporting and storage

How It All Works Together

StomaToGo straps around your waist and is positioned beneath your stoma. It provides a way for a bag to catch any stoma output during the change process and is used to dispose of any waste products used (e.g. cleaning materials). The plastic garbage bag (not part of the product) is positioned against the torso to keep any waste from getting past it. After the change is complete the bag can be removed and disposed of.

Full Mobility During Changes: How many times have you started to change an appliance just to realize you forgot something? StomaToGo provides you with mobility any time during the change process without worrying about soiling anything and allowing full use of your hands.

StomaToGo also provides a way to hold your new appliance and other items used during the change process. There are hooks and a rest platform to hold your new ostomy bag and other items used, reducing the need for flat, clean surfaces where you are changing the appliance. There are optional parts to hold cleaning tissues or adhesive removers.
